BOYS BASKETBALL

Last season: 13-7 (Lost to Wayland, 59-46, in the Div. 3 North quarterfinals)

Head coach: Doug Hoak (5th year)

Team captains: None named yet.

Other key returnees: James Foye, So. G; Jimmy Campbell, So. F.

It’ll be a great season if: Hamilton-Wenham can put it all together quickly. The Generals graduated 10 seniors and one of their two experienced returning players — Jimmy Campbell — is out for the season after breaking his leg in football. Seniors Nick Fusco and Ben Kozlowski were also on the varsity roster a year ago, but saw little time.

Team captains: Andrew Klobucher, Sr., all-around; Maggie Abbott, Sr. butterfly

Other key returnees: Eric Baumeister, Jr., butterfly, free; Megan Weltler, Jr., freestyle; Betsy Powers, Fr., all-around; Justin Guo, Jr., sprints; Katrina Klobucher, Soph., freestyle

It’ll be a great season if: The depth develops the way coach Murray thinks it can. The Generals have 46 swimmers and they’re all capable of contributing to what could be another outstanding season.

GYMNASTICS

Last year’s record: 1-8

Head coach: Alexandra Gabriel (2nd year)

Captains: Emily Ciruolo, Sr.;Julia Bucci, Jr.; Jessie Herlihy, Jr.; Madeline Dalhin, Jr.

This seaosn will be successful if: “We have a lot of returning gymnasts with a lot of improved talent this year. This season will be successful if we stay focused on beam and keep motivating each other to do our best.”

Key returnees: Tyler Mulley, Sr., Hurdles; Frank McCarthy, Sr., Weights; Kevin Rutigliano, Sr., Distance; Matt Gillis, Jr., Distance; Wyatt Howell, Jr., Sprints; Cameron Newth, Jr., Sprints

It’ll be a great season if: “We can find enough kids to fill all the events,” Sawyer said. “We don’t have big numbers, but we have enough to be competitive.”
