---- — BOYS HOCKEY
Last season: 8-12-2 (NEC South champions, lost to Rockport in Division 3 North quarterfinals)
Head coach: Bobby Jackson (7th year, 83-47-11)
Key returnees: Liam Gillis, Jr. D; Zac Cuzner, Sr. D; Trevor Gelineau, Jr. D; Nick Perry, Sr. D; Ian Maag, Sr. C; Ty Bates, Sr. RW; Tom Koopman, Jr. LW; Dean Fader, Jr. C; Myles Barry, Jr. G; Joe Newall, Jr. LW; Erik Powers, Jr. LW; Trevor Jones, Sr. LW; Cam Rowe, Sr. C; Will Hughes, Jr. F; Aaron DeAngelo, Sr. RW; Ben Katzman, Sr. RW.
Interesting newcomers: Trip Franzese, Sr. F; Harrison Young, Jr. G; Matt Koopman, Fr. F; Kyle Koopman, Fr. F.
It’ll be a great season if: The team maintains its mental focus throughout the season and can stay healthy. The work ethic must remain strong as well; with many returning players, spread out scoring and strong play along the blue line, the Headers could put themselves in good position for a fine 2012-13 season.
Last season: 12-8-2 (GEIMHL division champs, lost in Division 1 preliminary round)
Head coach: Emily Hudak (8th year, 83-49-19)
Team captains: Rachel McKay, Jr., F; Brittany Smith, Jr., D
Other key returnees: Sabrina Doughman, Fr., G; Aly Hopkins, So., G; Meg Gray, So., F; Caroline Hughes, So., F; Hadley Woodfin, Fr., F; Emmarose Winder, Fr., F/D; Rose Callahan, 8th, D; Brittany Lydan, Fr., F; Halle McKay, 8th, F
It’ll be a great season if: The defense is there. The Lady Headers return two of their top three point-getters, but lost players that logged a ton of ice time on D. Goalies Sabrina Doughman and Aly Hopkins are a year older and have improved, so as long as Marblehead fills the gaps on D another state tourney trip could be in order.
Last season: 11-11 (lost to Melrose in Division 2 North first round)
Head coach: Wayne Hanscom (8th year)
Key returnees: Scott Temme, Sr. G; Matt Millett, Jr. G; Brooks Tyrrell, Soph. G; Spencer Craig, Soph. G.

It’ll be a great season if: Even with the loss of 16 kids to graduation, this will be a strong team if the Magicians swim to their potential. Guertin says the team can’t take anything for granted, however. The Magicians will have to earn it like they have in the past.
Last season: 6-1
Head coach: Brian Crowley (12th year)
Team captains: Nate Fowler, Sr., Mile/1000; Josh Beloff, Sr., 300/Relay; Connor Green, Sr., 55 Dash
Other key returnees: Conrad Rousseau, Jr., Hurdles/Relay; Ian McIver, Jr., 300/Relay; John Howard, Sr., Distance
It’ll be a great season if: “Everyone works hard and stays healthy,” said Crowley.

Other key returnees: Paige Ferrucci, Jr., Middle Distance; Janaya Randall, Jr., Distance; Carlyn McGrath, Soph., Sprints; Kathleen Huber, Soph., Middle Distance; Olivia Vener, Jr., Hurdles; Anna Barrell, Soph., Distance
It’ll be a great season if: “The team comes together early. We have a big division meet right off the bat with Swampscott in the second week, and the girls will need to be ready. They beat us us the last two meets, and I know they will be ready for us. Our goal is to win the NEC South championship. Swampscott, Danvers, and Gloucester probably have the same goal.”
