Last Year’s Record: 6-12

Head coach: Reggie Maidment (third season, 11-25)

Captains: Jack Clay, Sr., P/IF; Henry Eagar, Sr., 1B.

Other key players: Austin Michel, Jr., P/3B; Peter Duval, Sr., P/C/IF; Brett Harring, Sr., C; Ian Dickey, St., OF; Tom Dowd, So., OF; Drew Gallant, Jr. 2B.

Strengths: Experience. The Generals haven’t graduated many seniors over the last two seasons, so the majority of the 10 seniors on this year’s team come with varsity innings under their belts. Hamilton-Wenham is also comfortable with what they have in the pitching department, led by Austin Michel and Jack Clay at the front of the rotation.

Concerns: Strength of schedule. Hamilton-Wenham opens with traditional Cape Ann League Newburyport, North Reading and Masconomet, which makes having a fast start to bounce back seem difficult. The Generals are in the CAL Large, playing each of those solid clubs twice. They’ll need to have a high competition level to meet that challenge day in and day out.

Coach’s Outlook: “We’re in a good spot. We have a lot of athletes, with guys that have experience in baseball and wins in other sports. We’re hoping that rolls over into wins for the baseball team. We have pitching and we have experience. Those are the strengths we’ve been pushing.”

Last year’s record: 13-8 (lost to Cohasset, 9-4, in East Division 3 quarterfinals)

Head coach: Josh Wedge (1st year)

Captains: Grant Thompson, Sr. G; Christian Ecker, Sr. M; Matt Curran, Sr. M.

Key Returnees: Cam Macri, So. M; Jimmy Littlefield, So. LSM; Alex Rogers, Sr. LSM; Brian Shaw, Sr. M; Sam Petri, Jr. M; Tom Rostad, So. M.

Strengths: Experience, midfield and defense. Macri is the returning Cape Ann League Player of the Year and Wedge feels this is an athletic team that should be more potent on offense. The Generals are deep at the midfield position, have some solid defenders, and have some young players that could crack the lineup.
