The Marblehead Festival of Arts is synonymous with fireworks, street performers and outdoor concerts, but those are not the only attractions. Theater is also an integral part of the festival, as it has been for many years.
At this year's festival, to be held July 1-5, the Mugford Street Players will put on four performances in the sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Church on Mugford Street. According to Jim Robinson, a member of the theater group, the performances will take place on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5 at 1 and 2 p.m.
The plays will include "Doctor Love," a new, one-act comedy by Linda Weltner of Marblehead, and Jeffrey Hatcher's "13 things about Ed Carpalotti, a one-woman show, with Marblehead's Georgette Beck.
Also, Robinson said the Players will put on some yet-to-be-decided pieces from the humorous side of playwright Harold Pinter.
As always, the theater group will do a reading of the winners of the festival's Writers' World competition, on Sunday, July 5, at 2 p.m. at the church.
