Peabody's International Festival turns 26 this year.
The Sept. 13 event celebrates the city's rich ethnic past and present in music, dance and food — and lots of it. The festival runs from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but arrive early if you plan to eat.
Every year, festivalgoers will find nearly 60 booths along Main Street in Peabody Square.
Expect to sample delicacies from the Caribbean, Greece, Poland and Portugal to name a few.
Favorites like Polish golabki (cabbage rolls) don't last long.
There's plenty of toe-tapping music and folk dance to enjoy over the six hours at the festival. Performers dance and sing on two stages at opposite ends of the street.
The event officially kicks off the day before, Sept. 12, at Kids' Day, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m. on the Tanner City Common.
Mayor Michael Bonfanti serves as this year's honorary co-chair and Ward 1 City Councilor Barry Osborne and Mike Zellen are the co-chairs.
