All kinds of music at Patton Park

Sundays in Patton Park in Hamilton offers another diverse season of live music beginning in June. All concerts take place Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m., except for the July 4 show, which begins at 3 p.m.

The free concert series, going into its eighth year, is held in the bandstand at Patton Park. The events are coordinated by a committee of dedicated volunteers. Attendees are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic.

The series will kick off with "Broadway in the Park," favorite show tunes showcasing local talent (June 20), followed by the classic British rock of Britannica (June 27). Independence Day will feature Quintessential Brass performing traditional and patriotic tunes.

The remaining summer dates will encompass the music of New Orleans (Henri Smith and friends, July 11); swing and big band (Riverside Swing Band, July 18); swing, society, and classic rock (Four Guys in Tuxes, July 25); American roots, country, folk and more (Goodhues Band, Aug. 1); and Latin and Caribbean (Los Sugar Kings, Aug. 8).

The mix of musical styles is intended, according to concert organizers.

"We strive to have a variety of musical genres to appeal to a variety of audience members on the North Shore," said Beth Meyers, one of the founders, adding that the shows average between 150 and 200 people.
