After all the hype about MTV coming to our school, another channel snuck its way in, Fox News. As part of their High School Friday series, Salem High was featured with a focus on the football team and the journalism class that creates the Witches Brew.
Fox News highlighted the Salem vs. Gloucester away game. Not only was the game highlighted, but cameras recorded live from Gloucester High the day of the game and aired on Fox TV. Also, our very own coach Scott Connolly was interviewed for his thoughts about the matchup.
The cameras then began rolling in the school's journalism class to tape a segment that was linked to the Salem-Gloucester feature. Nearly the entire class was recorded, as well as four in-class interviews. The three co-editors, Angela Christoforos, Kaitlyn Benjamin and Kaitlyn Geary, as well as the columnist and writer of "The Village Idiot," Sam Dibble, sucked up their giggles and put on their game face for the camera.
Although the game was a downward loss of 42-0, the Salem spirit cannot be knocked. No matter, we welcome Salem High's 15 minutes of fame, which can be viewed over and over by going to www.myfoxboston.com and clicking on the "High School Friday" archives link.
