Meet the new dean: Shevory comes to SHS

The beginning of the school year brought many new changes to Salem High, ranging from stricter policies to construction. But most of all, Salem High has a number of new faces working in the building. One of those faces is Mr. William Shevory, the new dean of the Turner House. Several students have noted that Shevory is strict, but with the change of stricter policies, stricter enforcement most accompany them.

History teacher Ms. Lori Marenda embarked on a journey of a lifetime this past summer when she had the chance to go to Russia and live with a family there. Marenda got this opportunity by receiving a federal grant called the Fullbright-Hays grant from the University of Illinois.

Editorial: Stricter policies unfair to some, long-awaited for others

Along with the new renovations done to the building, Salem High has undergone another kind of refacing | the refacing of its old policies. When students entered Salem High School on Sept. 6, little did they know the school's administration had made way for revised, stricter policies that they are definitely planning to enforce. Not too big of a deal for the incoming freshmen, but a major adjustment for the school's Juniors and Seniors, who had become accustomed to Salem High's laid-back environment.
