Home teams rule as only five weeks remaining

It's closing time in the "I Beat Burt" contest with only five weeks remaining.

And after a few missteps in previous weeks, it's starting to feel like the old days when picking football games was a lot easier.

Only four underdogs won and only three road teams won.

Personally, it was another good week for me, selecting nine winners out of the 12 games (not including Thanksgiving). In fact, if I hadn't gone off the board by picking Green Bay over Minnesota, only two entries would have beat me.

Instead, there were 15 entries of the 211 entries that picked 10 winners. All of the winners were within four points of the first tie-breaker, the Patriots point total of 27.

Week 13 appears to be an "easy" one with eight games having point spreads of a touchdown or more. That's the most this year.

What that means is it will be probably close this week with one upset probably being the difference.
