FOOTBALL

The new head coach for Danvers High Football will be holding the first annual Falcon Youth Football Clinic this summer. In conjunction with the Danvers Recreation Department, Coach Shawn Theriault will hold the clinic Monday through Friday, July 28 through Aug. 1, at the DHS football field. The clinic will be split into two groups: youth entering fourth, fifth and sixth grade, and youth entering seventh and eighth grade. The clinic will be held each day from 9 a.m. to noon. Theriault and his coaching staff will run the clinic, along with the captains of the 2014 varsity team. The clinic will focus on football fundamentals, stances, starts, and the overall basics of football positions. The seventh-and eighth-graders will also work on installation of plays, as well as run 7-on-7 games and linemen challenges. Register online at www.danversrec.com.

RUNNING

Wicked Running Club is now accepting scholarship applications through June 2. Four scholarships will be awarded to high school and college runners with funds raised by the Frosty Four race. Requirements are being an Essex Country resident and participating in cross country or track as a high school senior. Scholarships will be awarded based on a combination of academic achievement, contributions to their team, volunteer/community work and quality of application and essay. LACROSSE

North Shore Lacrosse is again offering a recreational lacrosse league at Endicott College for boys and girls at various grade levels beginning June 23 thru July. There are no tryouts, no extended practices and no weekend commitments. Offerings include a Boys/Girls League for Grades 3, 4 and 5; a Boys Middle School League for Grades 6, 7, and 8; a Boys/Girls High School League for Grades 9-12. All grades indicate the level your child will be in the fall school year of Sept. 2014. Additionally, an 18-plus league for men is offered. All games will be played at the Endicott College and Manchester by the Sea. Start times vary from 5:30 p.m. up to 9 p.m. and run for 60 minutes. The fee is $205 per player. The 2014 Cape Ann Hockey School run by Bob Driscoll will be held from August 4-August 22 at McVann-O’Keefe Rink in Peabody. BASKETBALL

The Marblehead Recreation & Parks Department will be hosting a free basketball skills clinic with instructors from Premier Hoops Basketball on Tuesday, June 17th for boys and girls in Grades 2-8 from 6-8:00 p.m at the Marblehead Community Center. There will also be a summer basketball clinic taking place Monday, August 4th - Thursday, August 7 for boys and girls in grades 2-8

The Elite Basketball Camp will be held at Danvers High July 14-17. The camp will be held from 5-9 p.m. and is open to girls and boys ages 14-18. The camp will focus on all the fundamentals, taught by six local high school coaches. Saugus’ Paul Moran, Danvers’ John Walsh, Salem’s Tom Doyle and Winthrop’s Dave Brown will coach the boys while Beverly’s Allison Flynn and Winthrop’s Ignacio Oyola will serve as the girls coaches.

The ninth annual North Shore Basketball Clinic will be held August 4-7 at Higgins Middle School in Peabody.
