A Black Lives Matter protest began at the Fishermen’s Memorial in Gloucester on Tuesday afternoon in honor of George Floyd and others killed by police forces around the country. The protesters knelt for 8 minutes, 46 seconds, the time a Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee into a handcuffed Floyd’s neck before he died last week. The protesters then marched to Gloucester City Hall where Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken addressed them.
