The top-ranked high school seniors on the North Shore will be honored for their academic achievements tonight when the North Shore Chamber of Commerce hosts its 51st annual Honor Scholars Recognition Dinner.

The dinner will recognize more than 300 students from 34 public and private high schools on the North Shore, all of them ranked in the top 5 percent of their graduating class.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Patricia Gentile, president of North Shore Community College.

Following dinner and the keynote address, students will be acknowledged individually and presented with awards in the presence of their parents, educators, chamber members and community leaders.

The tradition began in 1968 when the honorees were Beverly High School students, as the chamber served only Beverly. With the growth of the chamber, the dinner now accommodates an audience of more than 1,000 people and recognizes the top scholars from across the region.

The dinner will take place from 6 to 9 p.m., at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Danvers.
