Cummings Properties clients and associates have directed $265,000 in donations to local nonprofits through its annual Cummings Community Giving program. Seven of the 218 organizations selected this year are based in Salem, with $7,000 directed to them. They are: LEAP for Education, Healing Abuse Working for Change, Northeast Animal Shelter, PALS Animal Life Savers, Project Out, Lifebridge, and Salem Sound 2000 Inc. “We like to say that ‘our buildings power charities,’” said Cummings Properties president Eric Anderson. The majority of the 10 million square feet of commercial space managed by Cummings is owned by Cummings Foundation, with 100 percent of all rental profits going to charitable causes. The Cummings organization has already awarded more than $25 million to greater Boston nonprofits in 2019, and it has awarded more than $260 million to date.

Derek R. Devoe has joined the North Shore Bank as a Vice President in their Commercial Lending Division. In his new role he will be responsible for managing and growing North Shore Bank’s commercial loan portfolio while working with new and existing clients. During his 15 years of in the financial industry, Devoe has served as a Vice President and held a Branch Manager position at several local banks. He attended Salem State University where he studied business and marketing, and graduated from the School of Commercial Lending.
Salem resident and attorney Timothy D. Braughler has joined the Mirick O’Connell Family Law and Divorce Group as a partner in the firm’s Boston office.
