To Show We Care, a Middleton nonprofit that provides events for people with life-threatening illnesses and their caregivers, has been named a “2019 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, which collects user reviews of charities. The award is based on the rating and number of reviews received from volunteers, donors and guests. To Show We Care has staged 57 Night on the Town events, treating patients to events such as a night at the theater, since its founding in 2013.
Christian Book Distributors, often known as CBD, is planning to consolidate its various company brands to Christianbook. President and CEO Ray Hendrickson said the change was precipitated by brand confusion, particularly online, caused by a rise in popularity of a medicinally used product derived from the cannabis plant—cannabidiol, commonly referred to as CBD.
The Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting for Beverly Bank’s newest branch at 167 Washington St. in Peabody. Beverly Bank President/CEO Mike Wheeler performed the “official cut” and was joined by Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt, bank employees, friends and chamber members. The Peabody location marks the sixth branch for Beverly Bank; three in Beverly, one in Salem, one in Danvers and now a branch at 167 Washington Street, Peabody.
Blair Lord, who retired recently from Eastern Illinois University, has been inducted into the Marblehead Rotary Club. Lord worked for 16 years as provost and vice president for academic affairs at the university, and is a recent addition to Marblehead, where he spent summers during his youth with his grandparents.
