17 thCentury Saturdays continue at The Gables this fall, beginning with “Arts and Myseries Revealed: Historical Carpentry,” Saturday, Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Before power tools, sheetrock or foam insulation, the mastery of carpentry created works of lasting elegance and functionality. If you’ve evr wondered how, The House of the Seven Gables will show you, as you travel back to a long ago Salem with educator Mike Welch, who is known for his entertaining and informative explorations of the tools and techniques of early woodworkers. 17thCentury Saturdays happen at the Gables on the first Saturday of each month —Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2, run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are included with the price of admission. Each will present a new mystery to explore at First Period (1625) sites like The House of the Seven Gables. For more information, visit: www.7gables.org
