Beverly hospital is hosting a community blood drive today. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., all eligible and new blood donors are invited to give blood that will help patients in need. Imagine being an explorer stranded in the wilderness. Could you survive? Find out in "Survivor," part of the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary's Vacation Week Family Fun Days. Families are invited to join youth education manager Kim LoGrasso and sanctuary staff to explore the woodlands engage in activities a real stranded explorer would need to do to survive. Through teamwork and problem-solving, groups will build shelters, collect firewood, and find food and a water source. Meet in the barn at 1 p.m. and dress properly for the weather. There is a fee to participate: $7 adult, $6 child for Audubon members; $9 adult, $7 child for nonmembers. Register in advance at 978-887-9264.
