BEVERLY — An active member of the Beverly Police Department died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, police Chief John G. LeLacheur said in a statement Monday afternoon.
He said the department will release more information once the family has had time to notify all members and make arrangements.
A department spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances regarding the officer's death, and the delay in identifying him is strictly a result of the family's difficulty in locating and notifying some out-of-town family members.
The chief expressed his and the department's "appreciation for the outpouring of support from those in the community who heard about our loss."
"Please pray for the officer, his family, and all of the members of the Beverly Police and law enforcement community as we grieve his loss," LeLacheur said.
