DANVERS — A medical condition may have caused a 79-year-old driver of a 2005 Toyota Camry to lose control and drive off Conant Street, leaving tire marks across three lawns, Sgt. Robert Bettencourt said.
The driver, who complained of back pain, was taken by Lyons Ambulance to Beverly Hospital after the 11:19 a.m. accident, Bettencourt said.
"There were tire marks on three lawns starting at 108 Conant St.," Bettencourt said.
Conant Street is a busy, two-lane street that shoots from the Beverly line to Elliott and Poplar streets. The driver was heading west toward Danvers when the car left the road. After crashing through yards, it wound up against some rocks. The car suffered extensive front-end damage, Bettencourt said.
The injuries to the driver did not appear to be life-threatening. Police did not identify the driver, who was not charged.
