DANVERS — Utility customers in town now have the option to pay their water, sewer and electric bills by text message. 

Through an arrangement with Invoice Cloud, Danvers has implemented an advanced electronic billing and payment system. In addition to paying bills in person at the town Business Division on Burroughs Street, residents can pay their utility bills online, by phone or by text, with an electronic check or credit or debit card. 

The new system allows residents to view and pay bills, schedule one-time and automatic payments, securely store payment information for later use, review up to two years of past bills (as they become available), and enroll in paperless billing.

Email notifications are sent once a bill is ready to view, just before the due date and when a scheduled payment is pending. Customers are encouraged to create an account, but it is not necessary to view bills and make a payment.

The pay by phone option is available 24/7. Customers can call anytime (electric payments: 844-647-6523; water payments: 844-750-7097), enter their account information and follow the prompts in order to make a payment or to receive their latest account balance.

With Pay by Text, customers can receive text notifications about their bill and have the option to respond via text message to make a payment using their default payment method. Customers are able to enroll in Pay by Text when making an online payment or within their online account.
