SALEM — Fire crews quickly knocked down a two-alarm blaze that started around 10:30 a.m. Monday on the second-story, back deck of a building at 61 Bridge St.. No one was injured.
The origin of the fire is still under investigation, fire Chief John "Gerry" Giunta said at the scene.
There were people in the building when the fire broke out, but everyone got out safely. Giunta said a dog had gone missing.
Salem firefighters were joined at the scene by crews from Lynn and Beverly. Crews from outside the city also provided station coverage during the fire.
The building is a two-story mixed commercial and residential building, according to city records. The property is assessed at $555,000.
