MARBLEHEAD — Police said they are investigating a shooting on Thursday night in which two or three shots were fired and nobody was struck.

The shooting took place around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Broughton Road, according to Marblehead police. Investigators believe it was not a random act based on statements and evidence collected at the scene.

Four males fled the scene on two mopeds. The only description is that one of them was wearing a gray Nike sweatshirt.

Police found shell casings in the street and notified state police. A caller told police that he saw two males running "really hard" down the street toward Salem Harbor, but police found nothing in the area.

Marblehead police are investigating the incident in conjunction with state police. Anyone with any information can contact Marblehead police detectives at 781-631-1212.

Marblehead police also reminded people that they can report crimes or suspicious activity anonymously by downloading the MYPD app.
