Monday

A woman reported to police at 5:28 p.m. that her purse was stolen while at Market Basket on Highland Avenue. The woman told police she left her purse in the carriage for only a few seconds to get a box of Cheez-Its. When she returned, her purse was gone.

A bicyclist collided with a Toyota RAV4 on Hanson Street at 5:41 p.m., causing unknown injuries to the bicyclist. The driver of the RAV4 told police she was on Hanson Street, turning left onto Putnam Street when she heard a thud. When she got out of the car, she saw the bicyclist in the middle of Hanson Street. The bicyclist told police he was coming down the hill on Hanson Street and did see the RAV4 waiting to take the turn but thought it had stopped for him so he could cross the road. There was a slight dent to the RAV4 and no damage to the bicycle. Police did not issue any citations.

A man attempted to steal a black winter jacket from Army Barracks on Essex Street at 6:09 p.m. when an employee ran after the man and took back the jacket.

A woman told police a man rode her bumper on Swampscott Road, spit on her car, and then got out and pounded his fist on her car, telling her to get out. The light turned green, and she fled and went to the police station to make a report. She took down his license plate number, and police contacted the driver. The driver said he's the victim because the woman threw a piece of ice at his car. He got out of his car to find out why she threw the ice, and he spit at the car when it fled.

Gustavo A. Pimentel, 35, of 173 Lafayette St., Salem, and Miguel A. Vasquez, 40, of 10 Boston St., Dorchester, were arrested at 7:46 p.m., following a motor vehicle stop on Boston Street. Pimentel was charged with possession of OxyContin, a knife violation and an equipment violation. Vasquez was charged with falsifying a motor vehicle document.

Police received a report at 10:04 p.m. of a man cutting tiles with a saw outside on Congress Street.

Tuesday

Max B. Merrow, 22, of 4 Lakeside Ave., Beverly, was arrested at 1:32 a.m. and charged with drunken driving, following a report of a suspicious vehicle on Washington Street. Police approached the blue Toyota Prius and found a man sleeping in the front seat and a woman sleeping in the back. The music was on, and the man was snoring and would not wake up. When police asked what he was doing, he responded: "playing Frisbee" and then "I have eight points." Police said they could smell alcohol on Merrow's breath. Police did not give a field sobriety test because Merrow was in a confused state and because of the cold temperature (11 degrees). Police said his blood alcohol level was between .12 and .13.

Carlos E. Zoquier, 58, of 18 Willson St., Salem, was arrested at 7:47 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to yield, following a motor vehicle crash on Broad Street.

Monday

Police received a report at 2 p.m. of a break-in at a Buxton Street home.

Laurie A. Francis, 34, of 10 Union St., Beverly, was arrested at 7:08 p.m. and charged with shoplifting and drug possession, following a report of a shoplifter at Sears.

A woman reported to police at 7:38 p.m. that her license plate was stolen from her Nissan Altima while at the Golden Banana.

Police assisted having a car moved on Blaine Avenue at 4:52 p.m. because it was too narrow for firetrucks.

Tuesday

Police received a report at 2:52 p.m. of a woman who fell off the back of her pickup truck on Elliott Street.

Alex Goldstein, 25, of 17 Pleasant St., Swampscott, was arrested at 10:56 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license, marijuana distribution and speeding, following a motor vehicle stop on Humphrey Street by Pickwick Road.
