PEABODY — Police are still looking for the man they believe to have been driving one of the three vehicles involved in the Monday night accident that sent eight people to area hospitals.
The suspect, identified as Jeffrey Driscoll, 40, of 1 Monmouth Square, East Boston, is believed to be the man seen fleeing the scene of the 6 p.m. crash at the intersection of Lowell and King streets.
The suspect was described as white male, 6'2", wearing a gray sweatshirt and jeans, traveling on foot. A K9 team was sent to assist in a search, but it failed to find him
Eight people were ultimately determined to have been transported to area hospitals as a result of the crash — two were transported to Salem Hospital and six to Beverly. None are believed to have been critically injured.
Five of the victims were in one car — a father, mother and three children. Two of the victims, police believe, were in the second car — Driscoll, who was driving, and a passenger, who had possibly overdosed and was hospitalized. Two people, from the third car, were also hospitalized.
Police were unable to say precisely how the accident occurred, but hope to be able to provide an answer on Wednesday.
