BEVERLY — The YMCA of the North Shore plans to move its administrative staff from Cabot Street to Cummings Center to free up space for more affordable housing.
The YMCA is planning to expand the number of affordable housing units at 245 Cabot St. from 45 to 67. The $22 million project is expected to begin in in late spring or early summer.
The Y's administrative staff will move to new office space at 200 Cummings Center in April.
Chris Lovasco, president and CEO of the YMCA of the North Shore, said in a press release that the organization is "thankful to Cummings Properties for being mindful of our nonprofit status while working closely with our team to find the right location, design and layout, and construct a new customized space."
The YMCA of the North Shore is the umbrella organization for seven local Y's, located in Salem, Beverly, Gloucester, Marblehead, Ipswich, Haverhill, and Plaistow, New Hampshire.
The Cummings Center is the North Shore's largest office park, with more than 600 businesses.
