LYNNFIELD – House Minority Leader Brad Jones, who has led the super-minority House Republican caucus since Tom Finneran was speaker, will have a special guest at his Lynnfield fundraiser Thursday night.
Gov. Charlie Baker is listed as the headliner, according to the event invite, which suggests donations ranging from a $100 "bronze sponsor" to a $1,000 "platinum sponsor."
The fundraiser on Sevinor Road is being co-chaired by Ralph and Stacey Sevinor.
Former Senate Minority Leader Richard Tisei, who is now a lobbyist, is on the 18-member host committee for the 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. event.
Jones was first elected House minority leader in 2002 and served in that role through Sal DiMasi's years as House speaker and through Robert DeLeo's long and ongoing run as speaker, which began in 2009.
Former Rep. Lew Evangelidis, now the sheriff of Worcester County, nearly toppled Jones in 2009, but lost a 9-7 GOP caucus vote.
Karyn Polito, then a state rep from Shrewsbury and now the lieutenant governor, was with Evangelidis in that leadership fight.
