To the editor:

Our second annual pickleball tournament benefiting children in our community was held at Collins Cove in September. Initially played by senior citizens, pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S. and is enjoyed by all ages.

Thanks to our generous sponsors, including Right at Home Boston and North, Marblehead Bank Financial Services, Sensational Travel, Coffee Time Bake Shop, Crosby’s Market, and several pickleball paddle suppliers, our players had a wonderful time and, more importantly, we were able to purchase 115 new Land’s End winter coats for deserving children within our community.

Thank you to the volunteers who contributed to our success and a special thank you to Yan Burdett and Dan and Sue Carnevale, and to our players. And a thank you to Mayor Kim Driscoll and the Salem Parks and Recreation Department for their continued support of this fundraiser.
