To the editor:

Despite the grueling heat, the 6th annual Paul Ramsdell Scholarship Fund Golf Outing/Fundraiser was a huge success on July 20. Since the fund was established in late 2014, we have raised $69,000 to be awarded to well-deserved Beverly High students and to other local charities. I am pleased to announce that this year’s scholarship winners are Emily DePiero, Emma Gallagher and Logan Stevens.

With any successful fundraising effort, it all begins with the volunteers and sponsors. I would like to sincerely thank all the people on our committee and local businesses that helped make this year’s event such a success: BlueMar Promotions, Chapman’s Greenhouse, Chasing a Fox in a Little Black Dress, Eagle Logistics, Gemline, Glenn Battistelli LLC, GS Photography, Hunter Group, Joe’s On A Roll, Nathaniel’s at The Hawthorne Hotel, Nick’s Pizza & Subs, Paula’s Hair Salon and Day Spa, Pingree School, Scoreboard Sports Bar and Grill, SMB Services, SoBol, state Rep. Jerry Parisella, Ward 5 candidate for city councilor Kathleen Feldman and Wenham Country Club.

In an effort to continue Paul’s legacy with helping those in need, we expanded our scholarship fund in 2018 from giving out several scholarships each year, to also helping worthwhile local charities. A few of the charities that we have assisted, and will continue to do so, are The Good Friday Walk, Beverly Bootstraps, Beverly High PTSO, Friends of Beverly Animals and Northeast Animal Shelter.
