To the editor:
Salem’s GreenSpace is truly a community garden run by a community of people with many varieties of vegetables grown locally. It is maintained and thrives because of a large group of people who work together, such as local college students, local high school students, various donors, the City of Salem, the Salem YMCA, many volunteers, Mr. Nick the caretaker, Mr. Ryan, as well as Matt Buchanan, the garden director.
I myself and the many elderly residents of Pioneer Terrace have benefited greatly from its cultivation. Also, the garden’s neighborhood Farmers Market, which operates each Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., hosted by Salem’s GreenSpace from the second week of July through September, generously donates all that it sows for free to anyone in the area. Of course, donations may be made, yet they are not required in order to enjoy any of the garden’s bounty.
Thank you all for everything you do to bring a beautiful space to our neighborhood and for all your hard work.
