To the editor:
Beverly Main Streets and Beverly Kiwanis recently teamed up to hold the "Bramble in Beverly" golf tournament to support the community events that each of our organizations run. The tournament was a big success and for that, we have many to thank:
Mayor Scanlon gave us the course for a day and the Beverly Golf & Tennis staff deserves an 'A'.
Our sponsors we'd like to personally thank including the biggest of all, Danversbank.
The golfers hit well and no one was slow. The format was fun and scores were low.
Volunteers gave their time to sit in the sun. They do all the work so the players have fun.
We're lucky for support and many go-getters, so we can keep doing the work to make Beverly better!
We are grateful for our major sponsors: Danversbank, Goldberg Properties, Beverly Hospital, McNeil's Auto Body, Leslie Ray Insurance Agency, Herzog Aesthetic Family Dental Care, and Corporate Design Insurance, as well as to the many who bought hole signs that dotted the tee boxes. We also appreciate the businesses that donated items for our raffles and the board members of Kiwanis and Main Streets who donated bottles of wine.
There's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes by the committee, but the real success of the event depends on the volunteers who come for the day and keep everything moving smoothly.
We had the most energetic volunteers who braved the sun and humidity, kept smiles on their faces, sold tons of raffle tickets and earned many compliments from the golfers who appreciated their help.
Thanks to Sandra Griffel, Pat Allen, Miranda Gooding, Jack Good, Jan Preston, Jo Broderick, John Maihos, Nancy Yorgy, Tina Cassidy, Tina McManus, Suzy LaMont, Jennie Allen, Mark Pecukonis, Katie Finch, John Herzog, Peter Plecinoga, Phoebe Goodman and our terrific coordinator for the day, Gayla Bartlett.
