Tearful Ortiz leaves Sox void

David Ortiz was reportedly shot in the Dominican Republic tonight.

According to ESPN's Enrique Rojas, Ortiz was hospitalized after being shot at an amusement park in an attempted burglary. Ortiz's father, Leo, confirmed the hospitalization to Rojas.

"They called me to tell me that David is injured and that they took him to a medical center, but they did not tell me how he is or exactly where he was transferred," Leo Ortiz told ESPN.

CDN37, a local Dominican television station, is reporting the bullet wound was to one of Ortiz's legs.
