The Essex Tech football team finished its season Thursday morning with a 38-7 holiday loss to Northeast Regional in Wakefield.
Jaiden Anya had the touchdown for the Hawks (2-9), snaring a 55-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Devin Lebron in the fourth quarter.
Lebron had his best passing game of the season, completing 12-of-16 passes for 134 yards.
John Ranieri was a favorite target of Lebron's, taking in three passes for 40 yards. In all, Lebron completed passes to seven different receivers, including Anthony Bruzzee, John Mahar, Connor Drigotas, Jake Dumont and Rocco Schirrippa.
Freshman center Trevor O'Neil had a stellar game for Essex Tech as well, continuing a season-long trend for the ninth grader.
"The last few days have been refreshing because we know the culture of this program is in the right place," said head coach Dan Connors. "We've got a lot of great kids doing great things in school and in the community. "Now, we have to find a way to translate into playing 48 minutes on the field and focus on bringing 48 minutes of intensity moving forward."
Essex Tech will graduate 10 players from this year's team, and Connors said he's eager to see what his returning players can do next fall after an offseason of training and conditioning.
