Longtime Salem News sports staffer Matt Jenkins enjoyed an unprecedented two week perfect start in the annual football picks contest, and won bragging rights over his fellow scribes with a sterling 121-21 record capped off by an 12-2 record on Thanksgiving Day.

Jenkins, who had three perfect weeks in all, was also 7-6 in picking upsets.

Assistant sports editor Matt Williams also had a 7-6 record picking upsets, but struggled on Thanksgiving by going 8-6 as he tried to make up ground. Jean DePlacido ended up passing him for second place overall with a 116-26 record with an 11-3 holiday mark and a 6-7 upset picks record.

Dan Harrison was third at 115-27 after going 11-3 on Thanksgiving with a 5-8 upset mark. Williams fell all the way to fourth at 114-28 overall, while Gianna Addario was 113-29, 11-3 on Thanksgiving and 5-8 in upsets. Sports editor Phil Stacey, who won the picks contest in 2013, went 110-32, 2-11 in upsets and 11-3 on Thanksgiving.
