Newest inductees into Beverly High Sports Hall of Fame announced

The Beverly High School Sports Hall of Fame will be inducing eight new members on Saturday, April 7 at the Danversport Yacht Club. In addition, they will be honoring the 1988 Beverly High football team that went 10-0 in the regular season and became the first squad in school history to make a state Super Bowl .

New inductees for 2018 include Terry Erwin, Class of 1964 (football, track and basketball who went on to play for the American Football League's Denver Broncos); Lon Hamor, Class of 1989 (football and lacrosse); Bill Kerwin, Class of 1985 (football, hockey and track); Barry Lewis, Class of 1981 (soccer, basketball and track); Matthew McGinnity, Class of 1996 (hockey and lacrosse); Joe Miller, Class of 1984 (football and track); Bob Pieroni, Class of 1959 (basketball player and coach, as well as track); and Lance Wagner, Class of 2000 (soccer, indoor and outdoor track).

The 1988 Beverly High football team, coached by Hall of Famer Bill Hamor, featured eight other BHS Hall of Famers in Winston Trefry, Steve Costa, Justin Shairs, Dana Peters, Adam Mott, Stew Cowles, Brett Boretti and Lon Hamor.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased from Dave Jellerson, 19 Herrick Street in Beverly, 01915. Make checks payable to Beverly Sports Hall of Fame Committee. Tickets can also be obtained at Todd's Sporting Goods at 393 Cabot Street in Beverly. No tickets will be sold at the door the night of the event.
