The Myopia Hunt Club served as the host course for the inaugural New England PGA (NEPGA) Championship back in 1921 — and next summer, the local links haven will once again be handed that distinction.
Myopia is set to co-host the 100th NEPGA Championship, the third such time the South Hamilton-based course has done so. In addition, Tedesco Country club in Marblehead will join its neighboring course as the other co-host for the tournament, which will be staged from August 17-19, 2020.
Earlier this month, Golf Magazine ranked Myopia as the No. 92 Best Course in the World for 2020-21, setting the stage for a memorable Centennial Section Championship in 2020. Tedesco, meanwhile, recently underwent a $1.6 million renovation in 2018 which included a complete bunker redesign, expansion of greens and the introduction of fescue and naturalized areas. Unlike Myopia, Tedesco has never hosted the NEPGA Section Championship but has hosted five Massachusetts Opens and numerous Massachusetts Amateur Championships and Stage I of PGA and LPGA Qualifying events.
