The New England Patriots lost a tough one Sunday in Miami (and 90 percent of those that picked the Patriots, did, too).
Well guess what? The Patriots are on the road again this weekend again, in Minnesota, as favorites. Are you willing to pick them again.
North of Boston sports columnist Bill Burt picked the Patriots last week and it cost him, as the a long-time New England Patriots beat writer and columnist, got only eight out of the 15 games correct in the Week 1 contest.
But he had some company. Of the 158 entries from the North Shore, only 38 picked more winners than Burt did, with most entries picking the Patriots game wrong.
Of the 15 games on Sunday and Monday, six road teams and seven underdogs won outright, which means all hell broke loose.
There are only three road favorites this coming week, which means the home teams are expected to take care of business.
Each week there are a maximum of 10 T-shirts awarded. The first tiebreaker — the Patriots point total — is important in this game. The second tiebreaker is amount of correct selections. The third tiebreaker is random draw.
Each of this week’s winners were within 11 points of the Patriots point total.
If more than 10 people pick more winners than AND have the Patriots point total exactly, they are guaranteed of a T-shirt.
Here are the Week 1 winners:
Ron LeMay of Rowley
David Reynolds of Middleton
Joe McBrien of Beverly
Sol Eskenazi of Peabody
Joseph F. Giunta of Marblehead
Aleta Gal of Gloucester
Paul Genovese of Gloucester
Steve Bennett of Newburyport
Norman Corey of Beverly
Barry Nangle of Byfield
Note: T-shirts will be mailed out this week.
