For a team that is not exactly accustomed to throwing the football, Tanzella had a fine day filling the air with footballs last Friday in the Panthers' 34-7 thumping of Swampscott. The senior signal-caller had a terrific day, completing 10 of 12 passes (has any Beverly High QB ever had that strong of a completion percentage in one game?) for 116 yards, including a 5-yard fade to junior end Pat Abate for a score. Tanzella had no problem rolling out to either side and hitting his targets in stride; his two misfires were a drop and a slightly overthrown ball in the end zone. Tanzella's ability to pass helped open the Beverly running game, too, as the Black and Orange gained 284 yards on the ground. For the season, Tanzella has completed 67 percent of his passes (22 of 33) for 251 yards and three TDs for the 3-0 Panthers.
