Thibodeau earns MVP at Danvers High field hockey banquet

Emma Thibodeau, a senior captain who helped lead the Danvers High field hockey team to an unbeaten Northeastern Conference championship season this fall, was named the team's Most Valuable Player as the Falcons recently held their annual awards banquet.

A forward who finished the season with 18 goals, 12 assists and 48 points, Thibodeau was named the Northeastern Conference Player of the Year and a member of its All-Conference Team. In addition, she was chosen for the Best of 60 State squad and is a Salem News all-star.

Fellow senior captain Ella Brinkley, a midfielder, was honored with the Falcon Award, which is a combination of being the squad's Most Improved Player, Team Award and Leadership Award winner. She was also an All-Conference selection and Salem News all-star.

Senior forward and captain Maddie Butler not only took home the Coaches Award, but also the inaugural Barb Damon Field Hockey Scholarship, given in memory of the school's legendary field hockey coach.

Caitlin Hess was named the team's Unsung Hero, and Janessa Marchegiani was recognized at being named both All-Conference and a Salem News all-star. Additionally, Grace Brinkley, Ashley Clark and Ashley Curcuru were chosen as NEC all-stars.

Awards for the Junior Varsity team went to Christian Tsiumis (Clutch Player Award), Kylee McGraw (Most Improved Player) and Lauren Auciello (Coaches Award).
